fifth commandment

The fifth commandment states, “Thou shall not kill.”  The fifth commandment is about more than just not killing each other; it is about general respect and dignity towards human life.  Many forget this and violate the fifth commandment through abortion, racism, and/or assisted suicide.

Racism is just stupid; there is no point for it.  Racism is just ignorant people, who know nothing.  We are ALL created by God, making us all brothers and sisters, so why would you hate your brothers and sisters?  Racism means you are not respecting the life of another (or group) because of religion, ethnicity, and/or skin color.  Racism has led to so many terrible injustices in the past, like the genocide of Jews in Nazi Germany, the hangings of Blacks by the Ku Klux Klan in the south, the genocide in Darfur, and 9/11.  If we all just loved a little more and hated a little less, the world would a much nicer place to live, really.

Assisted Suicide is when someone who is suffering asks for another’s help in ending their life.  I understand you maybe a paraplegic and never move again, or have some terrible disease like Parkinson’s but that does not mean you have the right to take your own life.  It’s called assisted SUICIDE, emphasis on suicide, which is a sin and an automatic ticket to Hell, have fun.  When one takes their own life, they end any chance they have at eternal life in heaven with God.  Jesus had nails driven through his hands and feet, then hung on a cross for hours before he died all for us.  So I’m pretty sure any suffering you have here on earth is not at all as bad as Christ’s, so offer that suffering up to God and look forward to eternal life.  As Kelly Clarkson says “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”

Abortion is the killing of an innocent baby while it is still inside the womb.  Everyone knows that if you have sex there is the chance of becoming pregnant.  So of you are not ready to have a baby and become a parent why would you engage in that kind of behavior?  If you are having sex, obviously you are ready to become a parent and have a baby.  And if not why are you even doing it in the first place?  The point of sex is to procreate and have babies; it says so in the bible.  My opinion is, that you made your bed now go lie in it.  Now, I understand that bad things do happen, like rape.  Even if you are raped and become pregnant why does another terrible thing have to come from that?  Even if you don’t want the baby you can have it, and give it up for adoption.  Why do you have to kill an innocent creation God created?  Not to mention the emotional and physical tolls an abortion takes on a woman.  Many regret having an abortion and become very depressed after.  If the abortion is done wrong there is a chance you will not be able to have another baby.

Really any violation of the fifth commandment is like a slap in the face to God.  Honestly, you are basically saying oh that life you created is not God enough so I’m going to kill it, or humiliate it, or hate it, or embarrass it and the list goes on and on.  So really let’s all just stop hating and make the world better.

Trayvon Martin: The Facts

Trayvon Martin

February 26, 2012 Trayvon Martin was found face down in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to the back of his head in Sanford Florida.

Minutes before Martin was shot the Sanford police received a phone call from “a concerned citizen” George Zimmerman.  Zimmerman, a self-appointed neighbor watch man spotted and flowed Martin, all while still on the phone with the police.  Zimmerman told the police Martin “looked like he is on drugs or something” and that he looks “up to no good.”  Fact: Martin was walking home from the store with an ice tea and bag of skittles, to go watch the NBA finals with his dad, and was wearing jeans, a hoodie, and sneakers.  Real suspicious, I went to the mall this weekend, and sported that very look; jeans, sneakers, and a sweater.  However, I was no shot down, like innocent Trayvon was.  The Sanford police found Zimmerman standing over the body with the gun in his hand! They questioned Zimmerman, he claimed “self-defense” and was let go free.  Zimmerman did not have a scratch anywhere on him, yet he claims self defense.  How can it be self-defense if you are the one stalking, and the one with the weapon? It seems more like Zimmerman blatantly shot down an innocent UNSUSPECTING teen. The Sanford police did not run a drug or alcohol test, and did not do a background check on Zimmerman.  However, they did run a drug test and alcohol test on the murdered seventeen year old.

As of March 23rd, George Zimmerman was still a free man.  The FBI are investigating the case and the Sanford police, who claim there is not enough evidence to arrest Zimmerman. Even though, they have the weapon, an eyewitness, and the tapes in which Zimmerman tells the police he was FOLLOWING Martin.

Sanford has some serious explaining to do… not only to the Martin family, but also to the rest of the country.

The R Word

The "R" word.

Much debate has go on, on how to deal with the word.  Many feel the word should be banned, President Obama recently passed Rosa's Bill which changed the terms "mental retardation" to "intellectual disability" and "mentally retarded individual" to "individual with an intellectual disability" in federal health, education, and labor laws.  However, many feel the word should not be banned, because that it’s like trying to ban and idea.  Instead of banning the word, people should take time to understand it and those who have a mental disability.

I agree, with this "movement" of not banning the word, but rather understanding it.  If the word is banned a new slur will just rise up, with the same negative meaning. It will still be used to describe something that is "stupid” or "dumb" just as the r word does now.

I feel we need to take the time to educate ourselves on the word, and purge the word of all negative connotations.  Many associate those with a disability as being less than nothing insignificant people, but this is because they have never taken the time to get to know someone.  Learn Potter, is a Glee cast member with a mental disability, and yet she is on a hit TV show.

Every year the my high school soccer team takes a trip to School of the Holy Childhood, it is honestly one of the most rewarding days of my year.  The school is dedicated to helping those with disabilities.  One starts in kindergarten and goes all the way to 12th grade.  The School also teaches the older students how to work, so they can go get a job and contribute to society.

I feel people who use the R word, in every day conversation are just ignorant uneducated people, making fools of themselves whenever they open their mouths.

Banning a word is like banning an idea, we do not need to ban anything, we just need to understand.

Violating my Freedom of Speech

Recently, my morality class and I were told we were no longer aloud to swear over Twitter, because our teacher was offended.  Well, the first amendment to the Constitution gives us the right to say whatever we want, as long as, it is not slander.  The last time I checked swear words were just offensive not slander.  And we live in America, land of the FREE... not land of the "I am going to dictate what you can and cannot say" that would make the USA a totalitarian state.

I think school is like work and teachers are like a boss which is why we should not use Twitter as a "learning tool."  Our teacher basically asked for a portal into our personal private, we complied and now said teacher is upset.  I attend a private school where we are required to wear uniforms, attend certain classes, go to the cafeteria before and after school, are not allowed to chew gum, and have to act a certain way.  Basically our lives are controlled from the moment we walk through the doors.  And if we wear apparel with the school name on it outside of school, we have to act in a responsible and respectable manner.  So the fact our lives are dictated/controlled by school for a great portion of our teen life, what we do on our own spare time on the internet should not controlled or dictated.

I am all about stopping cyberbullying and protecting kids being bullied over the internet but swear in a post or tweet is not bullying, its just a bad choice.. That being said, I am not one to swear over Twitter, because I don’t even understand how to use it and I update my Facebook status maybe once a month.  So this new rule does not apply to me. However I have friends who do use profanity in their tweets and posts. But it is in the context of a quote or lyric... and on their own personal private time.  Honestly, I think the school should be more worried about the kids who post pictures and statuses about drinking and getting high, than about the kids who swear in posts.  Like really, let’s get our priorities straight here.  Seriously though this is the first time the school has ever tried to take any action about what goes on over the internet, but they chose to punish the kids who swear which isn’t even a crime.  However underage drinking and smoking is, but they do nothing to address those problems.  Way to be.

Resolutions for 2012

10 things I would like to see change in 2012.

1.  People in the US will respect the soldiers and stop protesting those fighting for their safety and protection.

2.  That we stop killing each other based on what we believe.  Fighting a war in the name Jesus is such a paradox, seeing as Jesus preached peace and acceptance.

3.  All those in need of help with receive it, in some way or another.  (the kids thinking of committing suicide, the third world countries, the teen parents, the depressed, all those who actually need help- say a prayer it helps)

4.  Abortion is made illegal.

5.  Same sex marriage being accepted.  If it makes them happy, who are we to criticize or judge?  Besides another's personal life is none of our business.

6.  Words like "gay" and "retard" will stop being used in everyday language.

7.  People will stop being judge appearance.  Teens will stop carrying what others think and just live their lives, and do what makes them happy.

8.  Kids looks up to real idols like mathematicians, scientists, and astronauts.

9.  School and education was taken more seriously.

10.  People stop expecting government handouts, and actually go out and work.  If you need money go out and earn it.  If everyone in the world had the mentality that they needed to work for their money, the world (and the US) would be a much better place.
